Hilary Swank is expanding her household once again, announcing on Wednesday that she is expecting her third child this winter. The two-time Academy Award winner, who welcomed twins three years ago, revealed that her new arrival is scheduled for December.

The 52-year-old actress shared the news through a playful video posted to her social media accounts, surprising fans with a creative seasonal reveal. Her husband, entrepreneur Philip Schneider, joined her in the announcement alongside their young children.

Swank chose an energetic and unconventional format to make the announcement public. In the video, four family members appeared dressed in matching black bodysuits covered in fluorescent stick-figure lines that glowed brightly under ultraviolet illumination.

The quartet performed a coordinated dance routine set to the classic 1974 rock track You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet by Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Midway through the clip, Swank turned to face the camera, revealing a miniature illuminated stick-figure baby drawn over her midsection to confirm her pregnancy.

Her accompanying statement poked gentle fun at Hollywood production schedules and industry anticipation. She remarked in her post caption that many people had been inquiring about what upcoming production she was taking on next, adding that this particular project releases in December.

The impending arrival marks the third child for Swank and Schneider, who married in August 2018 during an intimate private ceremony beneath the redwoods at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California. The couple originally met after being introduced on a blind date in 2015.

Motherhood first arrived for Swank in April 2023, when she gave birth to twins, daughter Aya and son Ohm, at age 48. She announced their arrival on Easter Sunday by sharing a photograph of herself holding the newborns against an ocean horizon, writing that the journey had presented significant hurdles but was entirely worthwhile.

Swank has consistently spoken with openness regarding the clinical realities and emotional dimensions of conceiving later in life. She previously disclosed that she froze her eggs while in her late thirties, ensuring she retained reproductive choices while navigating a demanding professional schedule.

Reflecting on parenthood during her late forties and fifties, Swank previously told Parade that welcoming children later in life felt like a profound blessing. "I think for me, I feel blessed to be able to have babies, you know, this late in life, but it's also a blessing because I had so much time to focus on my career, which was another baby of mine," she explained. "And now I can really give focus to them, in a way, and I am in the blessed position of being able to work when I want to work."

Swank has spent more than three decades in the film and television industry, securing two Academy Awards for Best Actress. She earned her first statuette for her performance as Brandon Teena in the 1999 drama Boys Don't Cry, followed five years later by a second win for portraying determined boxer Maggie Fitzgerald in Clint Eastwood's 2004 sports drama Million Dollar Baby.

Her recent screen roles have continued to focus on resilient characters facing formidable odds. In 2024, she starred in the inspirational drama film Ordinary Angels, portraying Sharon Stevens, a Kentucky hairdresser who rallies an entire community to assist a critically ill child. She also recently took on a prominent role in the fifth season of Showtime's acclaimed ensemble series Yellowjackets, further demonstrating her artistic range.

Beyond her work in front of the camera, Swank has directed her energy toward public health advocacy for families and expectant parents. She serves as Chief Innovation Officer and strategic partner at HealthyBaby Co., an enterprise centered on non-toxic infant essentials and environmental wellness.

Only days before her pregnancy announcement, Swank publicly celebrated the passage of California Assembly Bill 1901. The legislation mandates that diaper manufacturers operating within the state provide complete disclosure regarding chemical ingredients. Sharing a retrospective image from her twin pregnancy to mark the bill signing, she underscored the vital necessity of product transparency for child safety.

Swank and Schneider are now preparing their home for their third child, who will join siblings Aya and Ohm before the year concludes.
